Professor Robert Hazan, Chair of Political Science, Metro State College of Denver, welcomes you to DNCeduOnline.org.
This course offers students a unique opportunity to not only learn about the selection of the Democratic party’s candidate for president, but to participate in the event through a series of discussions, readings, and exercises, with the ultimate goal of building a bridge that spans the gap between learners and the political process. A prime component of the course consists of a series of current videos that will be made available to learners that focus on the Democratic National Convention, its leadership, platforms, and process.
The main objective of this course is to teach students about the complex dynamics involved in the democratic process and the electoral procedures utilized in the nomination of a presidential candidate in a particular political party. Learners will engage in a continuous dialogue on various aspects of democratic politics in action at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver.
The course is divided into a dynamic series of critical topics: War in Iraq and Afghanistan, Energy, Environment, Immigration, Health Care, Education, Economy and the Convention Process. The main activities of the course consist of content analysis, topic debates, and mock party platform exercises.
A learner may register for a one credit course with Metropolitan State College of Denver or an instructor may adopt the course for his or her students to participate. |
